Book 13 // Yaron Engler and “Beautiful Inclined”

“We trying to figure out life, we’re trying to think about it and make it into something that we can understand. but life will kick our ass at sometime sooner or later and I think the more we kind of accept it and embrace that, then we allow ourselves to go to the unknown. Discover who do I really want to be, instead of what I’ve been told to be. It has a sense of adventure, there is a lot of unknown, there is a lot of fear/excitement.” – Yaron Engler

Living life without regrets is what we should aim for – that his words. This time I had Yaron Engler – a musician, mentor and speaker. He lives what he says. Whenever you meet Yaron, you feel this excitement, energy and never-ending eagerness to find the adventure of your life. He has been touring for many years worldwide with world-renowned choreographers Hofesh Shechter and Akram Khan. For him, a deeper connection with someone was key, and he soon realized through his performances, he created moments with the audience or students that discovered something deep and meaningful about themselves.

Yaron chooses 9 Chapters in his Chapters Of My Life Podcast. Starting with Chapter 1 is called “Simple “where he tells us about his childhood till age 10 and where he, at an early age, finds interest in using music to express himself.

“Dark “called the next Chapters 2, and yes, you guessed it, it’s his teenage years. Why dark? Well, like with many artists at their young age, school just wasn’t a place to grow their passion.

Fighting through the teenage years, Yaron kept playing the drums during these times and turned at age 18 his passion into becoming a professional drummer, which is all about Chapter 3.

Chapter 4 is called “Transitio ” and it’s a more challenging part for him where he had to do mandatory military service, which prevented him in the first place to play the drums and follow his passion regularly. Over time, he was able to find balance, playing music, serving military service and be closer to friends and family.

After 3 years of service, he played professionally in a band and won auditions. Finally, he was able to entirely focus on his passion, which he called “Doing What I Love “in his chapter 5.

In his early 20s, he won a scholarship, which brought him for the first time to U.S. Berkley where he was able to take the music study to a new level. Surrounded by well-known musicians, he was finally able to do what he loves. It expanded his horizon but, at the same time, enabled him to discover the world. This life part is chapter 6 and it’s about “Expansion” as he names it as well.

Chapter 7 “Learning “is about moving to Spain, learning a new language and starting from scratch in a new country while keeping the one constant element in his musical career playing the drums. Traveling around the world enabled him to express himself through music in a very rare and unique way.

“Exploration “is chapter 8, where he moved to the UK with his wife, started a family and started to make a shift in his career. He had this inner feeling to better reconnect to his heart. His passion was essential not just for himself, but also for mentoring and coaching others – all with the elements of music and drums. This is why he decided to focus his work on helping people reconnect to their hearts.

His next chapter 9, which he called “Balance “aims to find a way to combine family with his two kids and his career, where music and drums never will be replaced. His motto till today”

LEAD WITH YOUR HEART AND LET YOUR HEAD FOLLOW, INSTEAD OF LEADING WITH THE HEAD LIVING A LIFE OF REGRET IN YOUR HEART.

A truly inspiring and yes crazy but in a good sense musician and performer.

Enjoy
